This was my first dive into solo roleplaying and I loved every second of it. It was also an excuse to use my tarot deck which I cherish but keeps getting forgotten on my bookshelf. I am not a writer, but I was excited to find myself unravelling a story from the point of view of what quickly became a grumpy old space criminal.
The risk reward gameplay incorporating mechanics from that one card game that has so many names I don't even know what to call it anymore, was very fun in between frantically spilling my ideas onto the page(s). Failing to fix things especially led to interesting story points. My favourite part had to be the questions though, such a direct yet open way to get the gears in my head turning.
I ended up choosing my final major arcana because the rest of the game had given me such a strong sense of the story and the character that I knew where I wanted it to go. As my ideas developed it felt like I was going through what the character was too, the slow realisation that they are the cargo they needed to deliver was thrilling. As a student game developer I am fascinated and impressed by how immersive this experience was and I will definitely be playing again to get the most out of it.
I really enjoyed this a lot. There were times when I got a bit confused about the rules, but luckily, there is some sample play at the end, which helped a lot. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is looking to have an otherworldly experience with writing.
This was so interesting to play! I had a trip coming up so I drew all cards beforehand so I could take some time durong my trip to write down the answers. My character ended up being a fire fae who would hide her powers to avoid attention and found liberation through discovering her identity. That character is so different from what I usually play as, that I hope to find a solo RPG she'll be the hero of !
