The ArtCenter Game Jam challenges high school and college-aged students to assemble a team and take an idea from concept to a playable game in about 48 hours.

From Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, participants will get hands-on opportunities in designing video games, pitching concepts and working in teams, culminating with an award ceremony and online showcase on Twitch. Throughout the weekend, participants will hear from special guest speakers, network with industry professionals, get a chance to earn prizes and more...

REGISTRATION

You need to be 13 years old or older to participate.

There is no cost to enter but participation is limited so it is important to register early. (More information on Discord)

The Game Jam is primarily intended for high school and college-aged students but we welcome everyone. Our goal is to inspire. So, if you are an experienced game developer, come join a team and share your passion!

In order to participate, you MUST fill out the registration form here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdubIeIFDrncq-ul-5xmF7ZHBzI7WLClGTM83Ph... (Otherwise, we won't be able to send you a prize if you win). And who knows, there may be some swag.

For team registration, only ONE member is needed to publish the project and list all team members when submitting to itch.io.

You also need to register your team on Discord by sending the team's name and list of members so we can create a private channel. It is important because this is where our mentors will be able to visit you!

THEME

The theme will be announced live on Zoom when the jam starts (Friday March 26th, 4pm PST). It will be posted here on itch.io and on our Discord Server.

Friday March 26th - 4pm PST - Kick Off! Theme revealed. (Zoom link to be announced on Discord)

Saturday March 27th - Time TBD: Guest Speakers on Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/artcentergamejam)

Sunday March 28th - noon PST: all games must be submitted.

Sunday March 28th - 2pm PST: Game Demos and Awards on Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/artcentergamejam)

Wednesday March 31st - end of itch.io voting. Winner will be revealed on our Discord Server.

RULES

The maximum team size is 8. But we recommend teams of 4 or 5.

You can reuse existing code and assets as long as you have the rights to use them. 

Your entry must be your own original work or free online resources
Your entry may not include any third party trademarks (logos, names) or copyrighted materials (music, images, video, recognizable people) unless you have obtained permission to use the materials.

Appropriate credits must be given.

Entries may NOT contain, as determined by us, in our sole and absolute discretion, any content that

• is sexually explicit, unnecessarily violent or derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group; profane or pornographic
• promotes alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing) or a particular political agenda; is obscene or offensive
• defames, misrepresents or contains disparaging remarks about other people or companies
• communicates messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or good will to which we wish to associate; and/or violates any law
