This game is genius- supernatural emo roleplaying at its best. They Howl and Grow Claws is a diceless game where the lack of dice didn't feel like it got in the way at all. The playbooks lend themselves perfectly to the themes of the game. Seriously, check this out if you want to get sad over tabletop games.
Dream Ablare has all the drama of a high school soap opera, tempered with caring play advice. The characters are intriguingly thought out and I feel excited to take a few for a spin. Exercising safe fantasy when re-imagining our formative years is vital for queer folks, and Brandon's text is supportive enough to make me feel comfortable with these stories, while open and encouraging to experiment with things I would not have thought.
Dream Ablare's setting elements are perfect Belonging Outside Belonging supports, and I know precisely how to maneuver them. They're great at inspiring potential stories and reading them was a delight. I feel the same emotions reading this game as I do watching shows like Buffy, Friday Night Lights, or Gossip Girl.
