What is this jam?
This is a jam for those who enjoy composing biome theme songs, or for those who would like to give it a shot. The goal is to compose a theme song for a specific biome within a week's time. A set of 3 themes will be given at the beginning of the jam, as well as some optional sub-themes.
What is a biome?
A biome is, in essence, a region. A good example would be a desert, or a forest. Each are their own distinct biomes.
Themes:
Contestants may choose from one of these three themes. The sub-themes are entirely optional and are mainly there to give flavor and/or thematic inspiration.
01.) Desert
Subtheme #1 - Corruption
Subtheme #2 - Ethereal
Subtheme #3 - Inferno
02.) Swamp
Subtheme #1 - Acrid
Subtheme #2 - Surreal
Subtheme #3 - Unholy
03.) Forest
Subtheme #1 - Mystical
Subtheme #2 - Lofty
Subtheme #3 - Lonesome
Rules:
1.) Only one song may be submitted for voting.
2.) Your song must fit one of the three main themes.
3.) You can upload your track as an MP3, WAV, etc, but a streaming service such as Youtube or Soundcloud would be most preferable.
4.) Be reasonable with the track length (No hour+ songs, for instance.)
5.) You may collab with another if you so please.
Rating:
All tracks have been rated.
The criteria that was voted on are as follows:
Composition: How good is the melody? Is the song catchy? etc
Creativity: How unique is the track? Did the composer give it their own interesting flair? etc
Quality: How good is the mixing and mastering of the song? Do the instruments used sound good, and are they befitting of the theme? etc
Correlation: How well does the song match to the given theme?
Questions:
If you have any questions, feel free to post on the community board.
Rewards:
This contest is meant to be more for the enjoyment of composition than the promise of reward. There will be no rewards.
That being said, I am a Pixel Artist with a penchant for drawing monsters, and I might be willing to draw a monster for the #1 winner, if they so desire.
