Block Born is hosting its first game jam! Powered by Tezos and in partnership with Rensa Games, we want you to create a competitive game with 90’s arcade-style gameplay and graphics.

CHALLENGE

Create an arcade-style game that’s easy to jump into and play, with a competitive hook – think score attack or speedrun games. Genres like light-gun, platformers, shmups, and rhythm are a few ideas to get you started!  

Graphics and aesthetics should be reminiscent of 90’s arcade classics – think of those colorful sprites of yesteryear.

Teams are allowed, just make sure all team member usernames are provided on your entry.

TOOLS

Games can be developed in any engine that can export to HTML and be playable in-browser on Itch.io. This includes Unity, Godot, Lua, and more. Games should be entered through Itch.io for submission. If you are interested in implementing Unity, make sure to check out the Tezos Unity SDK.

! Use of licensed content in your game that you do not own will be grounds for automatic disqualification.

! The entry MUST be new content created for this jam. Any pre-existing games will be disqualified.

! You MUST include a link to your game code via GitHub repository as part of your entry’s description. The hosts and judges will be reviewing to make sure all content was developed during the game jam period.

PRIZES

$8,000 in prizes are available, thanks to sponsorship from Block Born.

Additional prizes will be provided for the following “Best of” categories:

• Best Visuals: $1,000.00

First, second, and third-place winners will be eligible for “Best of” prizes if their game fits those categories best.

Winners may need to complete and submit forms (e.g. Form W-9) to claim their winnings.

• Registration: Monday, June 26 - Friday, July 14

• Build Phase (uploads accepted): Friday, July 14 - Monday, July 24

• Judge Phase: Monday, July 24 - Thursday, August 3

We expect to announce winners and begin the prize distribution process on August 4th.

• The Hosts will be able to promote the teams and their respective entries through their respective social media accounts. 

• Per Section 11.a of the Official Rules, ownership of the code developed during the event is the property of the Participants.

• Participants from countries on the OFAC sanctions list will not be eligible for participation.
