Blue Pill Game Jam #1

Both Pills

"You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes."

Red Pill

You choose the blue pill...

Congratulations. You've chosen to ignore the existential crisis of realizing that you exist in a simulation. But what does 'staying in bed' mean? Is it accepting your fate? Ignoring reality? Or simply seeing knowing that there is no better place than the simulation? In this jam, it’s your story to tell. Interpret the theme in your own way—surprise us, and maybe yourself.

Jam Rules:

1. Creating a github page and sorting your files before the game is ok. Writing code is not.

2.  Premade assets are fine. Just make sure to include in your description what you used. (This includes code)

3. Games submitted to other jams will be disqualified.

4. Any game engine can be used.

5. Teams are allowed and encouraged! Max size of 5. Make sure you have someone delegating tasks.

6. Mature themes are great. Excessive nudity or gore is not.

7. The game must be able to be run on html. All submitters have a mandatory queue of three games they must review, I will not require anyone to download an .exe

8. I will say it again, all games must run on html.

9. There is zero tolerance on late submissions. Perhaps you would prefer to take the red pill?

10. Any game submitted to this jam may appear in media covering the event without your permission. However we will attempt to contact you.

11. Fan games are allowed, but not encouraged.

12. The (optional) theme will be announced at the start of the Jam

13. 1D/2D/3D/4D  -- The dimensions are up to you

14. There will be a winner of each category, and a winner overall. They all have a special badge in our discord.  The overall winner will receive $25USD sent to a paypal account, or a wise account.

15. Games created or worked on by judges cannot win any category or prize.

16. You can only be a part of one submission.

17. Source code must be submitted. If you aren't using version control I recommend starting.

17. AI is allowed, you are living in a simulation. If you would prefer to wake up  consider taking the red pill.

17.1 AI is not encouraged but in the spirit of the theme it will be allowed. Do your best not to just copy and paste AI assets in code or art as you won't be learning anything from it. Use it more as a crutch for lapses in your skills ;)

18. Please report any games you see that were not created for this jam or are clearly breaking the rules so we can remove them from the queue for other submitters!
