We're excited to challenge you with our latest Game Jam: turn your favorite literary work into a game using Rosebud AI.

You can choose any book, comic, fanfic, short story, or any other written work as your inspiration for this Game Jam.

✍️ How to Participate

  1. Develop your game using play.rosebud.ai
  2. Showcase your creation by posting the game's link in the game-showcase channel on our Discord, using the tag "Rosebud Jam"
  3. In your game submission, you need to clearly specify the source material your game is based on. Include the title, author, and a brief description of the content.

Optional:

  1. Share a gameplay video of your game to earn 1 extra point. It must be posted on YouTube with “Rosebud AI Book to Game Jam” in the title. Posting on other social media platforms like Twitter, TikTok, or Instagram is also acceptable. The link to the gameplay video should also be included in your Discord submission.
  2. Share your game on Twitter with the hashtags “#RosebudAIGameJam” and “#BookToGameJam”, and tag @Rosebud_AI for a chance to win the 4th place prize for the most liked tweet. Remember to include the link to your tweet in your Discord submission.

  • Winner Announcement: July 10th, 11:30 AM PST. We will host a special Discord Livestream to reveal the winners.

💡 Evaluation Criteria

  • Winners for 1st to 3rd places will be selected by the Rosebud team.
  • The 4th place will be determined by votes on Twitter. The highest upvoted game not already selected by the team wins 4th place.
  • Games will be judged on creative integration of the theme, gameplay, and sound design.

✅ Rules

1. Theme Compliance:

  • Eligibility: Your game must be based on a book, fanfic, or other written content. Movies and TV shows are not allowed unless they are explicitly based on written content.
  • Adaptation Scope: You can adapt any part of the source material (e.g., a specific scene, chapter, or the entire story). It is not required to directly base your game on the characters or specific events from the source material. You can create a game that is loosely inspired by the themes, setting, or overall plot of the book. The main focus is that your game is inspired by a literary work.
  • Creative Interpretation: While faithful adaptations are encouraged, creative interpretations are allowed as long as the core elements of the source material are recognizable.

2. Game Type:

  • Any game genre is allowed as long as it is inspired by the source material.
  • Your game can be loosely inspired by the themes, setting, or general storyline of the book.

3. Submission Requirements:

  1. Your game must be developed using Rosebud AI.
  2. Provide a playable version of your game.
  3. Complete your game within the timeframe.
  4. Submissions close on July 1st, 12:00 AM PST.
  5. Participation can be solo or in teams (maximum of 4 members).
  6. All participants must be members of the Rosebud Discord community.
  7. Include a description of the source material and how it inspired your game.
  8. You can use any assets you own, buy, or make yourself, including those from AI tools, along with anything created in Rosebud.
  9. No plagiarism allowed. Offenders will be disqualified.
  10. Decisions by the team are final.
