What is BookBound?

BookBound Game Jam invites game developers to translate the magic of famous works of literature into indie games. This unique challenge encourages participants to weave interactive narratives inspired by beloved books. From iconic characters to enchanting settings, developers are invited to explore the vast realms of literature and bring them to life through the medium of gaming. Join us at BookBound Game Jam for a celebration of storytelling where words on a page transform into captivating digital experiences!

How to participate

1. Create a game based on the theme.
2. Join the Game Jam on itch.io. If you don’t already have an itch.io account, make one for free!
3. Submit your game through itch.io.

Recommended: Use a form of version control for safety, for example: GitHub.

Classic books! (optional)

Rules

• If your game does not follow the rules, it will be deleted. 
• Your game must be created during the jam. No development before the jam starts! 
• You are allowed to use media that is not subject to copyright. 
• After the jam is over, you can fix bugs and add new ways to play (web build or any other), but don't change the game in any dramatic way.
• The theme is 100% optional, but encouraged! 
• Games containing 18+ content are not allowed!

Extras

• Submissions will be hidden until the end of the jam. This is to ensure all games get an equal amount of time in the spotlight!
