A boss rush is a type of game where there is one objective - kill as many bosses as possible. While not usually the core game mode, it is common in many games, such as Wizard of Legend, or.. other games that I can't think of off the top of my head. Regardless, it's super fun, especially with some well-crafted bosses.
Your task is to make a game where the main game mode is boss rush. Create fun boss fights, slap 'em one after another, and have fun!
Feel free to tweet your progress with the hashtag #BossRushJam!
The Discord link's at the bottom of the page, if you want to find anyone to team up with.
Promo Video:
The theme will be announced 5 days before the jam begins. It is optional. This time can be used for brainstorming, but not making the game. I mean, if you start 5 days early, I'm not gonna know or care, but scout's honor and all that jazz.
There is only one theme, the optional theme. You just don't have to abide by the theme.
THE THEME FOR THE BOSS RUSH JAM IS:
1. You may work alone or in a team.
2. Each game must have at least 1 boss (3 or more recommended).
2A. Different phases of a boss count as different bosses (as requested on the discord), although having separate bosses is recommended, as diversity can help a game a lot.
3. Art, sound, and music assets made before the jam can be used, but please say so when submitting.
4. The theme is optional - your game doesn't have to abide by it.
5. All entries must have at least a Windows, Web, and/or Mobile build. Web is recommended for more people to play your game.
6. Avoid NSFW.
7. Your entry is allowed (and encouraged) to be submitted to multiple jams - this is not an exclusive jam.
7A. If you're submitting to another jam, feel free to link to that jam in your submission! It isn't required, but feel free to.
8. I'm willing to be pretty loose with the definition of Boss Rush for this jam. You can have stuff between bosses, such as platforming challenges or minor combat, so long as the majority of the game involves getting to the next boss, and there is not much stuff between bosses. If you do add stuff in between your game technically isn't a boss rush, but I don't really care all that much. That being said, if there's too much in between the bosses, it won't be a boss rush. I still won't disqualify your game or anything, but do try to keep your game within the definition of boss rush.
9. I do not claim ownership of anything submitted to this jam, unless I was part of the team that made it.
10. You are allowed to submit multiple entries to the jam.

Some Tips:
- Difficult vs. Challenging - Challenging is difficult with a side of fun. Don't make a boss super hard to make it super hard, make it super hard to make it super fun.
- Try to have at least 3 bosses. Although 1 is the only amount required, 3 or more is optimal.
Recommended Boss Rushes (for inspiration and just for fun):
- Wizard of Legend (Boss Rush Mode)
- Titan Souls
- I think Binding of Isaac has a boss rush mode, although I'm not sure if that's a mod or not
- Hollow Knight (Pantheon)
- WraithSlayer
- Cuphead (not really a boss rush but it's got lots of boss fights you can model after)
