How does the game fit the theme?
The game is about a lumberjack in a forest. The player must chop down trees, but avoid being hit at all costs. There are also endangered species in the tree, and these must not be disturbed. In other words, nothing must go wrong.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
We made everything but the models ourselves. This includes music, audio, code and shaders.
How many people worked on the game?3

The audio and visuals are PHENOMENAL! but as other people have said, the game lacks a tutorial or any way for me to know the controls which makes me unable to play sadly. Also I don't know if this was intentional or not but the game didn't capture my mouse and I couldn't move the camera around.
Thanks for the kind words! I’ve added some instructions on the game page. Hope you’ll give it another try :)
Edit: The camera moves to where necessary for gameplay, but we decided to lock it down to avoid having to model some things :D
Yeah I found out about how the camera works the second time playing. Its pretty cool.
Overall the game is great but it is a bit laggy, might be because I am running it on a potato but this potato ran games bigger in size with no problem so this seems like an optimisation issue.
Thanks for the feedback! We submitted 2 minutes before the deadline and happily dragged our “Optimization” card to the done column. He he he… If we develop it further we sure will look at it :)
I don't have windows :(((((
Hey! I’ve published Linux and Mac builds now as well :) Unfortunately we don’t have the ability to test the Mac build, but the Linux build is confirmed working ^_^
wait... I think I was just very blind. I'm sorry lol. I will rate it now
edit: never mind, I was gaslighting myself. I can see you updated that 3 minutes ago
The music was amazing and it looks beautiful, but when i opened the game, i had no idea how to play it. The only think i could do was walk around , get stuck in the forrest and open the shop. What are the controls? it doesnt say anything about them on your itch page
Thank you so much! And thanks for the feedback. I added controls and some hints on on the game page! Hope you’ll try again :)
i instantly replayed it once i saw the message! haha! i was actually hoping to get updated on the controls, because the game looks like a lot of fun! So i hope you will keep on working on this game after the game jam :D the music and art like i said earlier are very beautiful and realxing. At the beginning i tried accessing the logs next to the house, becuase i had no idea off the controls and didn't understand that was supposed to be the log shop. I thought i will collect the logs over there to use on the log shop. Also i tried collecting the axe a bunch of times. So i think the axe is just a visual haha and i chop woods with my bare hands! hahaha that is one strong woman! Also, it is a bit irritating when i chop wood and right when i hit it one last time and when i stand very unpleasuntly the tree takes my life away :( right before it actually starts falling.
I rly hope to see more of this game in the future, because it was really fun!
That makes me so happy to hear!
There is definitely some work to be done on the “guiding the player” part. The key hint was a last ditch effort to at least show the player that there was something. And about that axe… We have an animation ready but we ran out of time.
And then the bugs. There are many. If you play enough you might catch them all ;) But that tree thing might be a buggy enough for it to warrant a fix within the 48h fix window. The tree is only supposed to harm you when falling towards you with some decent velocity. But oh well, it’s a game jam after all!
Thanks a bunch!
haha to the three thing i have an idea. Mabe add a timer. The moment the tree starts falling as long as the time is not finished the tree cannot harm the player. Maybe that could fix soem things? :)
Yeah that could work! The logic is supposed to be “if the player on the falling side of the tree and it’s fallen at least 20 degrees”. Last part could definitely be a timer instead :) But I think we’re doing something dumb and just checking the collider.
hahaha nice! :D alright, hope everything works out!
