Welcome to the Bucharest Summer Game Jam!

Get ready for an exciting weekend of creativity, collaboration, and game development magic. Whether you're a seasoned developer or just starting out, this jam is the perfect opportunity to unleash your passion for games and bring your ideas to life.

During this jam, you'll have the chance to collaborate with fellow game enthusiasts, share knowledge, and explore new horizons in game development. You will also get to receive guidance from experienced mentors who will be there to aid teams.

Mentors

We are pleased to tell you that, on site, there will be people that have worked at industry studios such as Rockstar, Ubisoft and others in order to support and guide teams during the jam!

They won't be there to make the game for you, but they will aid teams, as much as they are able to, with technical, artistic, and design support, based on their expertise!

Theme

The theme is "You are your own worst enemy".

Location

The jam will take place both on-site and online. Although we encourage as many people to join us in person, we understand that some may prefer to work from home, so we will be streaming the event, as well as providing a digital platform for finding teammates and communicating with fellow jammers!

The event will take place at Nuvotek Studio, Soseaua Iancului 46.

Schedule

28th July

18:00 - We start gathering at the site and getting to know each other before the event kicks off.

19:00 - We watch a short introductory presentation showcasing the jam and its rules, as well as revealing the theme.

19:30 - Jam Time!

29th July

Jamming all day.

30th July

19:00 - Deadline for submitting the projects. We will then have a small break.

19:30 - Presentations where each team can show off their game in front of everyone.

After the presentations are over - You will have the chance to try the other's games and cast your vote. Each person gets a virtual flag that they can give to another team.
Obviously, whoever collects the most flags will get a (symbolic) prize.

IMPORTANT The deadline for submitting the projects is at 19:00. The deadline on the page is set at 23:00 just so that there isn't any issue if you upload your game a few minutes late or if we have any technical issues.

Rules

• A team can have as many members as you want.  (However, we recommend a maximum of 5 members, due to team management becoming chaotic with too many people)
• You may use pre-made assets, either developed by yourself or taken from the internet.  However, all assets that were not developed during the jam must be disclosed during the presentations!
• Be nice!

I would love to join, but I don't have a team. Can I still participate?

If you'd like, you can sign up for the jam as an individual.

However, if you wish to team up with others, you can form a team during the jam! Each year there are plenty of people coming solo, but joining teams based on who they meet before the event kicks off. We will have various tools, both on-site and online to help match people based on their skills and requirements!

My experience with game development is limited, but I would love to be part of the event, so I wonder what are the requirements.

No experience is needed, there are no requirements, and you don't even have to submit anything if you don't want to! Not only that, but the mentors present during the jam will be there to aid you if you need help with development. The mentors won't belong to any team, but will assist everyone with technical, design, or artistic support, based on their expertise!

Just come along, try to have fun and maybe you will end up with a cool project to show your friends!

Will this be held in Cluj/Timișoara?

Unfortunately not. Maybe next time we will find a way to do that.

Sounds like fun. Never been in a game jam before so this ought to be interesting. I just hope that I'm done with exams by the time the game jam starts :3
