Paper House Presents: Cake Book Game Jam 2024!

For the first time ever, Paper House will be hosting a game jam, both in-person and online. The jam will be held over a weekend and we're inviting you all to have your cake and eat it too.

The Australian Women's Weekly Children's Birthday Cake Book is undisputed one of the best cake books ever created. It is a cultural icon, had documentaries made about it, featured in Bluey and appeared at almost every single Australian Birthday from 1980 to 1999.

To honor such a famous book and fantastic resource, we wanted to use it as a source for other kinds of creativity and play.

This is a FREE hybrid event and anyone can participate!

If you live in Melbourne, we would love to have you come in and making games with us though. It costs $50 for the whole weekend, but the money goes toward supporting local game devs (us) and helps us run more events! Terry is also going to bake a cake.

🎂 HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
- Register here (or in-person) so we know who's participating.
- Join our Discord to share with us and find like-minded buddies.
- Pick a cake the iconic Woman's Weekly Children's Cake Book!
- Create a game inspired by the cake you chose.
- Share a screenshot of your game next to which cake/s you've chosen
- Upload your game so people can play it!

CHECK OUT THE RESOURCE PACK WE MADE AND YOU CAN DOWNLOAD! It's called the "Cake Book Game Jam Jam Book!" It's full of production tools, reference images and more to help you make a game

🍰 RULES:
- Don't know how to make a game? Make a cake, picture, bit of poetry or whatever else instead!
- No "The Cake is a Lie" jokes. It's 2024, we can do better.
- Don't create anything you think will be offensive. If you're unsure if it is, maybe ask a grown-up or someone cooler than you.
- The Jam officially starts on the 6th, try to hold of starting early.

If you officially register the jam and join our Discord you'll go in the running to get a Paper House Prize Pack once the jam has concluded!
