  • Good job! Although I do not find the final look to be too appealing you have managed to produce a full character from start to finish so congratulations! Having produced a full character on its own is quite challenging and you've managed to do that so that will only help you grow. As for feedback what I can tell you is that you need to work on the modelling and texturing a bit more. You spent quite a bit of time creating the world around the character which is a good thing and will help a lot with the design; however I feel like you should have spent at least 80% of that time on the character design itself. When I initially looked at your character I couldn't have guessed at all that she belongs to an underwater world. I think you should first nail the design part of the character so it really communicates what you want to say. I should be able to have 1 look at the character and at least have an idea of what she's about. You say you've grown attached to the character and so I would invite you to try to recreate this character from scratch but really spend some time on the design and the block-out part. Don't even go into texturing until the character's shapes and design really communicates what you want to say. I strongly recommend the use of reference'; it really really really really really does a lot for an artist. You could download a little program called "pure ref" and go ahead and find refences that would help you design your character from Pinterest. Let me give you an example of what I mean with a piece I made: https://imgur.com/a/6ye06ts You mentioned that you use blender and so I would also suggest you do some sculpting exercises for faces to get better and then you can move on to hair. In short, really plan out and design your character. You certainly have a clear idea of what you want to make and the world surrounding this character, you've only got to practice on making the character look good and have very clear design. Try to be bold and really play with shapes. If you draw then try doing silhouette exercises, those certainly have helped me out improve. Anyway, I know it's a lot to take in and I could give you more feedback but I wouldn't want to make this too long. I hope you don't find my feedback discouraging and on the contrary you find yourself even more determined to improve your work. We're all in this together and I certainly appreciate when people critique my work, so good on you that you put your work out there to be judged, that's a really good sign that you've got the right mindset to become a great artist. Keep it up!
