Welcome to the 6th THIS IS GAME DEV Community Game Jam! This game jam is all about creating cozy, heartwarming experiences that evoke the warmth and charm of the autumn season. Whether you're an experienced game developer or a newcomer eager to dive in, this is your chance to bring a unique, comforting idea to life. Unique to this jam is that there is no official “theme” allowing participants to think quickly and innovate within the cozy games genre.
Expect a fun and collaborative atmosphere where you can meet fellow game developers, share ideas, and create something wonderful. There will be opportunities for feedback, a showcase at the end, and perhaps a few surprises along the way!
Join us for a week of coding, designing, and cozy hang outs on along the stream!
Your game should align with the overall concept/genre of a cozy game. There is no official “theme” so feel free to come up with your own unique take on the genre.
You can participate solo or in a team. Collaborate however best suits your creative process!
All development work must be done during the game jam period. Pre-existing code or assets are allowed if they are your own work, open source, or third party assets that you have the rights to use, but the main development should happen during the event. Please make sure to properly give credit to any third party assets you are using so that reviewers of your game can properly assess the areas you specifically created yourself.
Use any tools or game engines you like! Unity, Unreal, Godot, or even a custom engine – it's all fair game.
Games must be appropriate for all audiences. Avoid explicit content or anything that could be considered offensive.
Submit your game here on Itch by 6:00 PM EST on Sunday, November 24th. Your submission should include a playable version, a short description, and any credits for team members and tools used. Note: If you'd like your game played on stream, it is preferred that your game be WebGL based, however it's not a requirement to enter the jam.
This game jam is completely casual! There will be no judges or prizes. It's all about creating and having fun without pressure.
The main goal of this game jam is to have fun, experiment, and learn. Don't stress too much. Just enjoy the process of creating something new.
Given the number of submissions it’s difficult for Lana to play every game as much as she wants to see them all. She'll be looking at the top voted games, so don't forget to vote on your favourites. Also, if you're hoping for your game to be played on stream, please make sure there is a web version (ie. playable in browser rather than download).
