Welcome one and welcome all to the Cre8-Jam! Yes baby we are back and we want you to make some more amazing games! 

Normally games are to be created via Pico-8 but with the new updates on the early released Picotron that will now be included for submissions! Come show us what you can make with these amazing tools.

Theme: Unlikely Hero

The theme will be announced at the start of the jam.

Twist

With this being such a long jam I figured some fun twist are in order. These can be attempted in your game but not mandatory, just something to throw a wrench in things. So for the first one I'll make it easy.

Twist 1: 1 bit object. (Enemy, platform, tree, anything, just make it 1 bit.)

Twist 2: Double Jump. (The player or an enemy must now utilize a double jump)

Twist 3: 1UP. (Add in a way to obtain an additional life for the player)

Twist 4: Casting. (Either the player or an enemy has to cast an attack)

Twist 5: ???

Twist 6: ???

Rules

Now for the rules, it's pretty simple, make a game within one of these two engines during the jam. All resources must be made within the engines themselves as they provide all the tools you will need to create them. Must follow the theme. Teams are allowed, however only one member will be able to submit the project. That's pretty much it for the rules, I ask that you abide by them :)

Voting and Prizes?

Unlike previously during the Cre8-Jam this time there will be no voting, but there will be prizes. As normal the prize will be one of the amazing commercial Pico-8 / Picotron projects!

Without voting how will the winners be selected for the prizes?

I'm glad you asked. This time there will be a raffle for all those who submit a project! There will be multiple winners selected and for those on teams, well, you'll each get a prize :) Please be courteous and try to keep teams around a size of 3 if you will and be sure to mention all team members with links to their socials via X or Mastodon so that we may verify all members are real people and not fake accounts. (I understand this may seem weird and I don't expect anyone within this community to pull anything crazy, but with today's world, it's always best to be safe.)

Go check out the Nerdy Teachers Youtube or Lazy Devs Academy Youtube! These are great starting places. Also give the Nerdy Teachers website a look as they have great resources in learning how things such as functions, tables, etc... work with some great explanations!
