Welcome to the first Cross Campus Jam for 2018

Theme

The theme voting has concluded and is “Give up something (valuable)”

The theme will be announced here and on the Theme channel on Discord when the game jam begins -Done. 

Participation

Anyone (who is legally allowed to have an itch.io and discord account) is allowed to partake.

At least one member must be from Curtin, ECU, SAE, Murdoch, Joondalup or East Perth and is currently enrolled there.

Individuals, duos and teams are allowed, 3-5 members would be nice.   

Rules

1. In the spirit of creativity and fairness nothing is allowed to be brought in prior to the jam.

2. Given that, all assets; sound, code, graphics are created from an scratch during the jam.

3. Code snippets from external sources are allowed but should be significantly modified to suit the game.

4. Graphic grabs are allowed but should be modified from the original source.

5. Sounds can be generated from software or taken from external sources but copyright must be attributed if the asset is not modified.

6. Music can be externally sourced but copyright must be attributed as well.

7. Campus software may be used and if it has been you cannot release the final game commercially.

Process

Once the Jam opens(or maybe even before) follow these steps...

1. Click the "Join" button at the top (next to the countdown timer) 

2. Build your team - big or small it doesn't matter.  At East Perth we're building about 3 teams of 4 /5 each.  Not sure about Curtin, ECU, Joondalup, SAE or Murdoch - but hey it's just for the love of making games. 

3. Join our Discord Server at: Cross Campus 2018 Discord we'll post the themes for voting there soon.

4. Make awesome games and submit them on the Jam page.  (see below)

FAQ 

Q: How do I submit my game? 

A: Create a new game on itch.io: https://itch.io/game/new and follow the instructions there. Or you could also upload it to a cloud storage service.

Q: I don't study at Curtin / ECU / SAE / Murdoch / Joondalup / East Perth can I still join?  

A: Please, you are more than welcome.  Just make sure you are teaming up with at least one student studying at the campuses mentioned.

Q: What if I don't finish the game in time?

A: Art is never finished, it is abandoned :D  Just submit what you got and explain any missing functionality that might hamper the player.

Q: Is this assessable?

A: For East Perth you are more than welcome to submit this as a substitute for one of your rapid prototypes or final game.  I can't speak for the the other campuses.
