Aesthetics - 4.5

I really don't have much to say critically about this other than that the particle effects are a bit extreme, and the music is too quiet in the mix.  I marked down a half a point in the Aesthetics category because I think you were aiming for a chill experience and the particles and sound effect ramp ups were a bit more stressful.  I wonder if making the particles slower and maybe give them a halftone effect would help make that feel less extreme. (Wow that's the theme... maybe I'm wrong lol)

In general this game loop is the most engaging for me in the jam so far. I played it for a quite a while and it feels quite polished.  Thanks for making this and sharing!

Engagement 4

I marked it down a point for aesthetics because while the art aesthetic was consistent it could have been nice to have some music loop to polish it off!  It's small but getting a musician in the jam to make a quick jam can do a lot.

Engagement got dinged for basically the same reason.  It seems silly but I think I'd be way more inclined to try it again if there was a nice little jam to bop to while I raced Fuumiko around.

All around great job!

Engagement - ?

I haven't played this yet (which is why I left engagement blank) but having played a few journaling games I can tell that the rules are clear enough that I'd always know what to do, but they're open enough to let me have my own fun with the concept.  I really enjoy when this balance is achieved in a ttrpg.  The art and layout helps sell the nostalgic vibe of the mall while still leaving it open for the player to have their own vibe in mind.  Great job!  I hope to play it soon.

The only ding I put on it for Engagement was that I didn't feel super inclined to return to the game to try new choices out because my first ending didn't seem to be finished.  I got a "Back to main menu" button when it felt like I hadn't gotten an ending for that run,  therefore I wasn't sure if any of the other paths would result in the same thing.  I could have just been confused or maybe just a few of the threads weren't finished because it's a jam!

I loved your writing and found it to be engaging in my first playthrough, though. The stat buffs and debuffs felt really natural and I enjoyed how they guided my choices so that I didn't get too hung up on the outcomes too much.  Great job!
