Welcome to Crust Jam 2025!

It's that time of year again. The game jam where fancy graphics and sound are thrown into the incinerator and games are made with the specific goal of making your brain feel funny.

What is Crust?

If you're new to this jam, we're using the term "crust" in a similar way to how it's used by Vinesauce. In general, it means anything audio or visual that appears low-quality, outdated, low-effort, or just generally off in a technical sense. "Crusty" can mean a lot of things, so check out last year's submissions for some good examples, or just make something up!

What are the rules?

Rule 1 - No nudity or sexual content.

Rule 2 - Your submission must be available for free and can't contain any microtransactions.

Rule 3 - Nothing can be made specifically for your jam submission before the submission period.

Rule 4 - Your submission needs to be playable on Windows 10 in some way

Rule 5 - Videogames only. No books, TTRPGs, board games or anything else that isn't a videogame. Mods for other games (such as DOOM) are allowed as-long as they contain enough original content, but you can't leave in any files from the original games.

Rule 6 - Maximum team size is 4 people.

Rule 7 - No AI-Generated stuff.

Rule 8 - If your game has dialogue, there must be an option to play it in English. Google Translate is fine.

How is it ranked?

Submissions will be voted out of 5 stars by other jam participants for Fun, Originality, Crustiness and Overall. These scores will determine the final ranking.
