I'm sorry for the incovenience, to open the file you have to go to the unity hub and select "Add project from disk", then unity will automatically generate all the other files needed.
I tried to do it by first deleting the old project and for me it's working, reply if you still have the issue

I can't figure out how to open the file in unity
I unzipped the file but it's just giving me a bunch of sprites that I can't use
I only have a few hours left so I don't think I can work on the project
I blocked out time to work on it for day 3 but somebody else already did day 3 so now I am doing day 6

I did what you said but I got a "This project is not valid" error
I am running very low on time and will probably only have time to make the itch page
