From theme suggestions, slaughter, and final votes its up to you! Final submissions are also voted on by you the devs!
Discord Jam is about community! Made up of indie developers, composer's, artist, designers and players the floor is yours to shine this summer!
#DJAM was started in 2017...
It was created and hosted within the Ludum Dare Discord. The reason for it was due to Ludum dare becoming 2 times year rather than 3. Even if you don't make it to the end or submit the fun is in the time spent participating with everyone!
The vision is to create an event for not only indie developers but also indie game players and the discord community as a whole to be excited to watch/participate and see the outcome. We also plan to run a live stream where we check in with participants
We will be running events and giveaways all month on the discord so be sure to be active and check in for info relating out just be in chat and you may get lucky!
Theme selection is totally up to you, the participant!
With a month long process leading up to the event to select it.
ALL theme suggesting/slaughtering/voting happen on discord!
First there is theme suggestions where you can give up to 10 themes for yours and others games to be made around. This is done in the #suggest-themes channel on the discord under the discord jam section. Remember to put a little thought into it as you want them to make it past slaughter.

The slaughter is where we bring it down to just 10 themes from all the great suggestions in the community to the not so great...
This will happen within your DM's on discord Automated for your leisure to just click.
Lastly the final vote the last part before the actual event. The Top 10 vote is where you can vote for the final theme develop your game around. The theme with the most upvotes wins.
This will also happen in your DM's within discord!
These are the rules for Discord Jam 8:
- Make a game in 48 hours around the theme
- You’re free to use any tools or libraries to create your game
- Basecode is allowed
- You are allowed to used premade assets (including third-party assets you have the right to use)
- You can work Solo or in a Team. There is no limit to the amount of members you can have in a team.

Then you can head over to #submit-your-game in the discord and use the cmd.

The 1st place winner will receive the "DJAM#8 Winner" role on the discord. Games Placed 1st-10th will be eligible for prizes.
