Have you ever had a heated argument with another game developer?
Maybe they dared to use a game engine that is clearly the worst one or even make a platformer game. Simply put, you just know they're wrong and you're right, but of course, they would never admit it. Now it's finally your chance to prove it on the field.
Welcome to Duel Game Jam! Challenge other developers to take part in a 1 vs 1 competition and find out who makes a better game.
Find a person you will be competing against. You can invite your friend or check out the Matchmaker to find a pair.
Contact your match and pick a theme from the Theme Suggestions list. You can also come up with your own original theme. Remember that both you and your match should follow the same theme.
Make a blasting mind-blowing game once the jam begins and submit it before the deadline. Ensure that you filled in the sumbission survey correctly.
It's as easy as 1-2-3! Well, maybe besides the whole 'making a game' part.
Now wait for the results to find out which one of you won and don't forget to vote on the games of other developers using the built-in 🤠 Yeehaw-o-Meter that you can see on a submission page of every jam entry.
Duel Game Jam lasts for one week and runs from October 21 to October 28. The time for both dates is 10 pm PDT.
The results will be published in early November.
Unlike any other game jam with a single winner, in Duel Game Jam every matched pair has got its own unique winner and loser. Developer of a game with a higher rating wins against a person they are matched with.
Every submitter of the jam can rate games other people made and to ensure the validity of the jam results, the random rating queue is enabled.
The jam results will be published in a table after the super secret AI-powered algorithm (also known as Microsoft Excel) finishes calculating votes.
Besides the per pair ranking, there are also several other judging categories. Every category is manually assigned by the jam hosts to the most engaging and impressive entries.
Participants and winners will receive special perks in our Discord server if they fill in the username field of the submission survey.
This jam is a super experimental project. Keep in mind that there might be a bunch of unexpected problems and difficulties, just like with game development in general!
Don't forget that the goal of every game jam is to make a game and have fun in the process whether you win or lose. While as the event host I will do my best to make it go as smoothly as possible, in the end it's your input that matters the most!
