  • Hi Eduardo, Good job with this project - very solid end result. Here are some notes: 1. The wood normals on the door are very strong - tone them down because they are really distracting 2. I'd love to see something on the floor - either some scuffs, grunge or even a carpet with a pattern you've made in Substance Designer 3. The trim metal piece made in designer looked great in your documentation, but I think the height variation doesn't read very strong - I'd push it a little further and re-import to see if it helps make it read better. 4. I'd love to see the backdrop building more, and more of them in the distance - you've done good work setting it up in Houdini, so I'd love to see it being used more! I loved the Houdini work and Substance Designer work - show me more variations of the buildings please! You also have good motion on the seaweed. Overall the scene was built well and smartly. Good stuff!
  • Hi Eduardo, great work on your Bioshock project! I liked to see your passion for this game series develop into a unique tribute piece showcasing also your technical skills. As a technical artist however I feel like your work would have benefitted from a more modular large scale concept where your Houdini skills would really shine, by placing the camera inside this room the main focus will be aimed at the props, making the scene more fit for a prop-artist portfolio. Your overall execution is good, and the props themselves are interesting to look at, but I feel like most of the mood (or soul) of this world lies within the seaweed and environment beyond the windows, which unfortunately are only in the background. If you are really keen on pursuing a technical art career I would suggest referencing other technical artists that impressed you and fill your portfolio with useful Houdini tools like the ones you developed for this scene, showcasing in more detail how they work and how they could be applied to different environments. You are definitely on the right track, keep pushing!
