- I would strongly recommend finding references of gas stations - either from the time period or old ones that still exist today. You've done good work with the van, but the scene currently feels like it's a flat plane with a few props and a building placed on it. Gas pumps don't meet the asphalt - they're usually placed on a base that elevates them a little - and the same with the building. Things like parking lot indicators, signage, lines would also help build this scene out quite a bit. You have some good props - but you need some more work on the scene itself to really help sell the idea that it's a gas station. Once you have that foundation, spend some time with lighting. A sunset can be very dramatic, but you wouldn't necessarily see such harsh lighting - especially where Route 66 is. There are a lot of blues in shadows in this time of day!
