Fitchburg State University is hosting a Fall Game Jam! Join us onsite or online on Discord!

There will be a grand prize! Overall Winners get to showcase their game at Boston Indies: Demo Night at All Systems Go!

The Fall Game Jam at Fitchburg is sponsored by Boston Indies for Fall 2024!

Boston Indies is a community of independent game developers in Massachusetts supporting hobbyists, professionals, artists, academics, and anyone else interested in the craft of game creation.

This game jam is run hybrid! You can either join remotely through Discord, or onsite at:

Jam Finale: Conlon Game Labs (CNIC 341) 6pm - 8pm EST, September 29th

We want this to be a casual and fun game jam experience for students to meet each other, make connections, and work on games together!

🖥️ Theme 🎨

The theme is "Pick-and-Choose"!

Each team comes up with 3 different words. The 3 words would be randomly given to another team. The team must create a new game based on the word(s) they choose from any of the 3 words they received.

Example: using 1 word, 2 words, or all 3 words from the words the team received.

Theme Rules:

1). Please do not use any curse words, sexually explicit words, gory words, or any discriminatory words. This is a safe space.

2). Please use words that consist of more than one letter.

3). Please message an @Admin on the Discord to submit your team's 3 words by September 27th, 5:30pm EST.

1). In order to participate in this game jam, please fill out this Google Form, and join the Discord.

2). Remember to submit your game to the Itch.io page if you want to be included in the Jam Finale showcase.

3). Team sizes can be anywhere between 1 to 6 people. The maximum team size is 6 people.

4). Please message an @Admin on Discord to submit your team's 3 words by September 27th, 5:30pm EST. Please do not use any curse words, sexually explicit words, gory words, or any discriminatory words. This is a safe space. Please use words that consist of more than one letter.

5). You cannot start the game jam until September 27th at 6:00pm EST, but you can prepare your software and team beforehand.

6). Please submit your game by September 29th at 6:00pm EST.

7). Please respect each other! We're using a hybrid on-site / remote format, so please be kind to one another in this server and in any outside conversations (i.e.: if you and your team decide to use a separate group chat to communicate).

8). Any forms of bullying, harassment, discrimination, or abuse whatsoever will not be tolerated. Please message an @Admin if you have any concerns. If you see someone being harassed and it hasn't been taken care of, please bring it up to an Admin.

9). No unsolicited inappropriate DMs to other server members, and avoid excessive pinging.

10). Please do not steal anything from the internet. If you're using assets you found, just credit the person who made them. Please don't use anything that could get you in legal trouble.

11). Use of AI is not allowed for this game jam.

12). NSFW, spamming, any gore (with the exception of a gore filled game), or offensive/hate speech is not allowed. We're all here for jokes/art/whatever else, but do not post anything sexually explicit/gory/offensive/uncomfortable. We want a safe/comfortable environment for everyone.

13). Please, please, please take care of yourself during the jam. Take breaks regularly, eat meals, drink water, go to sleep, shower, and keep yourself healthy.

🎮 Opening Mixer and Jam Finale 🎮

The Opening Mixer, starting September 27th at 4pm EST, will be hosted both online in the Lobby Voice Chat on our Discord, and in-person at our onsite university locations. We will be playing some fun party games together, such as Discord Games, Gartic Phone, and Jackbox Party Packs!

The Jam Finale, will start September 29th at 6pm EST after submissions for the game jam closes! We'll be in both online in the Lobby Voice Chat on our Discord, and in-person at our onsite university locations. We will showcase all of our games for spectacular work that everyone has progressed on so far with their projects!
