Sorry for such a negative approach, but i think the game needs a little do over. The time holding the ball is too short, for a beginner like me stupid AI is too good, the field of view should be changeable. the throwing mechanic for the ball and grenade makes it super hard to aim,  and i think the hoop size should be configurable. on the bright side this game idea is new and has a bright future. keep doing what you do!

Developer

Thanks for letting me know! I'll try finding time to work on an update, but keep in mind that this is a jam entry, and I'm focusing on creating another game.

i know the "quick survive" and the new game you are working on are first priority.... i would love to have the money to buy quick survive. i just dont like buying games, im too cheap.

Developer

But wait... The field of view IS changeable! Also, with some practice you can aim quite naturally.

How do i change the field of view? it would be cool to have a *Not Forced* tutorial at the begging to really walk you through it all, but make it short and simple.

To change the field of view, go to the settings by clicking the "settings" button in the main menu, or the settings wheel image at the top right corner of the screen.

To learn how to play, click "how to play" or the question mark at the top left corner of the screen. Note that the "how to play" panel is scrollable.

Why no turning with mouse?

Developer(+1)

I've been getting a lot of requests to add mouse looking. I'm planning to add it in a future update.

Well I can't say I could do much but it was fun watching the AIs playing.

Developer

Hey Vimino, why couldn't you do much?

Submitted

By the time I reached the ball one of the AIs took it. Maybe I could be a goal-keep.

Developer(+1)

Oh. The AI-s and you move at the same speed, so here's a little trick: let yourself fall down while flying towards the ball until you almost touch the ground, then accelerate upwards again (never touch the ground, walking is slow). That's the way the AI-s move and it seems to work like a charm!

Looks interesting, but personally for me having an installer is a major turn off in small games like that.

Developer

Hey, thank you! And could you explain why you don't like the installer?

Submitted

Well when you get a small game like this especially when checking out a hundred games submitted for a jam you don't usually plan to spend a lot of time with it. So you want as little obstacles on your player's way to actually playing as possible. Installing requires a lot of extra steps (compared to running in browser or having a simple exe file), plus after I finish with all these games I don't want to have to uninstall each one of them separately.

For instance in my game I had an HTML version of it, but it turned out that it has negative effect on the visuals, and as it was becoming more important for the game (after I added post processing) I decided that a video will be enough to entie people to download the zip archive and play the game.

Do you think I should have used an HTML version for my submission?

Developer

Well, Air Hoops is intended to be more than just a small game you play for a bit, so I created an installer to "professionalize" the game. And about your question - I always prefer using exe files instead of playing on the browser. However, it's sometimes scary to install and run an unknown file, so that's a plus to HTML games.
