Welcome

Welcoming all game devs, from beginners to professionals, to take part in the third annual Fireside Jam!

Hosted by the GameDev Fireside community, we hope to make this a relaxed 10 day jam where everyone can have fun and learn to create better games. The theme will be announced in the discord and on HelperWesley's youtube channel at the beginning of the jam.

Want to join the jam, but don't want to do it solo? Head over to the Fireside discord and check out our "jam-chat" channel

Rating System

You'll be rated from 1-5 stars based on the following criteria. (Judges will deduct 1 point in the relevant category for using freely available assets)

  1. Fun/Engagement - How invested players get in your game.
  2. Audio/Music - The quality and implementation of the sound.
  3. Art/Graphics - The quality and implementation of the visuals.
  4. Theme - How obviously tied to the jam's theme the game is.

Bonus Point

Judges will add 1 extra point to your overall score if you: Make something other than your typical platformer.

Showcase Video

When the jam ends, there will be a community voting period where developers who submitted games will be able to rate other games in the jam. The judges will use the results of these community votes to help them find the best games to judge. When the judges have finished picking their favorite games, a showcase video will be made that shows off and describe the top 3 community voted games and the top picks from the judges.

The video will come out on HelperWesley's youtube channel when their work schedule allows it to, and we'll do what we can to make sure people involved know when the video will be released.
