There are a lot of cool ideas in this supplement to draw on with psychic powers, weapons, and NPCs and creature stat blocks. I like the versatility this offers to bring in the parts that most appeal to particular table (e.g., just the weapon mods or the idea of accumulating consequences from using abilities). And there's plenty of flexibility to customize these aspects even further (e.g., I could imagine adjusting the HEAT meter in response to my players' style or running a mission in a supercharged psychic environment where people accumulate extra HEAT).

The layout adds flavor while keeping the material easy to read. I appreciate the spin the author has brought to the general FIST aesthetic. There's a connection to the core rules, but they've still made this their own creation.

Thanks for the review, I really like the idea to have the HEAT meter change depending on the environment or mission setting.

It would make a great scenario to give immense powers to everyone in the mission but to spend more heat in exchange.

A simple but thorough framework for psychic powers that can ride on top of the FIST system, or any other for that matter with some minor tweaks. Setting the cool down period to a game session instead of hours or days should prevent PCs from gaming the system too much. The list of powers covers the usual favorites along with some traits to give access to them, though Universe Hopping may not be a popular one with most GMs.

It also comes, at no extra cost, with cards describing not just the powers, but various weapons and weapon attachments to let the players customize their loadout.

A solid piece of work and easily adaptable to other rules-light games. If I had one suggestion, it would be to expand what the various consequences mean and how they can be used to torment PCs who dig too greedily and too deep into their arcane abilities.

Thanks for the review!

I intend on making a second version soon-ish and I'll definitely work more on the consequences.

Kinmaker is an expansion for FIST that increases the overall power level and supernatural volatility of the game by adding psychic abilities in the vein of Akira and Firestarter.

The PDF is 23 pages, with a solid and easily readable layout. The vibe is more sleek modern supernatural and less old military technical handbook, but it's consistent and nicely atmospheric.

In Kinmaker, using supernatural powers generates Heat. Heat causes catastrophic effects if it gets too high, but decays by a big chunk at the end of every session.

Powers are unique to this book, but are gained by taking Traits from core or from Kinmaker. Foes can also use powers, and there's a neat multi-page bestiary included, with multiple possible powers for each foe.

Powers are individually statted out, and each include three different levels of use with corresponding Heat costs, plus a bonus for mastering them.

While not part of the book's central theme, there's also a weapon rarity mechanic, weapon attachments, and some other peripheral rules that add more of a modern looter shooter feel to the core gameplay.

Overall, if you want to focus on pulpy psionic espionage, I'd definitely add this to your game of FIST. The mechanics are fun to fiddle with, the themes are solid, and there's a lot of player and GM-facing content in this meaty supplement.
