What's FMV Jam?

Jam with us and make an "FMV game" in a weekend-- aka a game featuring "full motion video".  You can use video in whatever way you like-- whether that's green screen footage you film at our jam site, stock footage, or just photos of yourself and your fellow jammers.  You could make a point & click adventure, or a 3D world full of recorded actors, or a platformer where the characters are animated GIFs of your friends-- whatever  thing you want to do that combines the real and the digital in fun & weird ways.  Whether this is your first game jam or 100th, this jam will be a collaborative environment where you can make new friends and try new things!

The jam will be hosted at The Lower Case, in Chinatown at 225A Grand Street, Manhattan, New York and requires a ticket for local participation . We will set up 3 separate areas with green screens, good lighting, and decent sound insulation that anyone can use to create assets for their game, as well as a large number of desks and chairs in a separate room. Your jam ticket gets you access to the space from 2 pm on Sept 8th to 11 pm on Sept 11th. We will also supply coffee, tea and a small set of snacks. As for meals, delicious inexpensive food is plentiful just steps away from the jam entrance. 

If you'd like to participate remotely and don't need access to the jam site you are free to join in, no ticket required! 

Jam Kickoff & Showcase

FMV Jam officially begins on Friday Sept 8th at 7pm! There will be a kickoff presentation at the jam site in NYC. We will give some guidance to avoid time-wasting pitfalls when it comes to incorporating video footage into your game projects.  Talk to others, come up with ideas & form teams to work together. 

The FMV Jam Showcase will be Sept 11, 7 pm - 9 pm, both in the space (RSVP here) and livestreamed on twitch.  You will have the opportunity to present your project to other jammers or visitors, then time to hang out & play other people's creations!
