Who is Future Inspire Academy?

Future Inspire Academy (FIA) is a recently formed non-profit organization dedicated to helping people learn game development in a way that's fun, convenient, and flexible. We offer services like Daily Unity Challenges, Weekly Game Creations, One-on-One Mentoring, and Beta Platform Access combined with our gamifying leaderboard system. What makes our jams unique are our upgradable prize pool where you can redeem higher rewards by using points you gain from our program. https://futureinspireacademy.com/

Join our non-profit program to improve your game development skills, interact with a growing global community, get access to exclusive beta platforms, and redeem higher rewards in game jams:  https://discord.gg/76GmsMz7zR

Prizes

250 points in our program will guarantee that you can maximize your profits and buy any leftover licenses.

1st Place

- $125 Total Prize Pool (split between team)

- Odin Inspector + Validator (per member)

- UModeler (per member)

- Hot Reload (per member)

2nd Place

- $100 Total Prize Pool (split between team)

- Odin Inspector + Validator (per member)

3rd Place

- $75 Total Prize Pool (split between team)

For the cash prize pool, your cap is the amount of money each member will get if the total prize pool was divided equally (removing rounding and remainders). You cannot earn more money than your cap; in other words, you cannot trade in points for your teammate's upgradable cash. Your guaranteed prize pool is half of the cap and the rest of the money can be obtained by using points. (3 * [Team Members]) POINTS = $1 PRIZE UPGRADE

We have a total of 8 Odin Inspector + Validator licenses, 4 UModeler licenses, and 4 Hot Reload licenses in order to guarantee that each member in a team of maximum four people can receive their license. But if first place is not a team of four we will have leftover licenses that will be auctioned to the 2nd winners, then the 3rd place winners if there are still leftovers.

Disclaimer: The advertised prize pool value refers to the total cash value of all of our available prizes combined. The entire prize pool value cannot be attained by one singular individual and the prize pool value may not be distributed in its entirety because of team sizes and inability for some to upgrade their prizes. In other words, we will keep all leftover cash and uncollected licenses to save for future game jams.

Judgement

The first three days after submissions close will be open to public community voting. The top 10 community voted games will be judged by one or two of the founders/co-founders of the organization. Judging will commence after the community voting period is over and the results will be released the following Monday. Participants are encouraged to rate each other's games and give constructive feedback. The judges will decide which three games out of the top 25 are the best. The categories we will judge are the following:

  • Theme
  • Gameplay
  • Presentation

Rules

  1. We allow teams of up to 4.
  2. No NSFW/L or offensive content.
  3. Game must be playable on Windows or WebGL.
  4. Any software, tool (including AI), or game engine is fine.
  5. We allow a one day grace period, check the FAQs
  6. Games must not be submitted to other jams (You may submit it elsewhere after the jam).

FAQs

  1. Where can I find team members?
    1. We have a discord server where you can talk with lots of people! It's also where we host weekly challenges!
  2. How am I going to get paid if I win?
    1. After our second game jam, we would like to primarily use PayPal to donate the funds to the winning game. We also accept Venmo. If these platforms do not work for you, don't worry; we can talk. We will ensure that you receive the prize you've earned.
  3. How do I gain points in the program to upgrade my prizes?
    1. You can correctly answer daily polls for a small amount of points or you can participate in our weekly game creations to earn a massive amount of points at one time. We also allow you to work on past projects for half the points.
  4. Can I submit a game I've previously made?
    1. No, we will no longer allow games made prior to the game jam. We will not award games that are spam and have been submitted to other competitions before. This is to make it more fair to those who participated on the jam's terms.
  5. How can I submit my mobile game to the jam?
    1. As stated in the rules, we will only accept a game built for either the Windows platform or for the Web so you'll be able to publish it here. We may accept mobile in the future, but we are not yet accepting that due to complications so sorry.
  6. I just missed the deadline! Can I still submit my hard work?
    1. Yes, contact us within 24 hours after the initial deadline with your completed submission and we'll add your game to the list of submissions. Everyone can use the grace period.
  7. Doesn't that just mean that everyone can abuse the grace period?
    1. Well yes, but not really. The top 25 games are determined by the community in the first 3 days. The indirect punishment for using the grace period is that you'll be losing exposure for your game. Games that were submitted on time are more likely to get more votes and make it into the top 25.
