What was your favourite part of working on your game during GDM?
Finding a ton of free assets from great creators on OpenGameArt and elsewhere so I could focus on the programming and design.

What was the hardest part of creating your game?
Having free time to work on the project.

Did you use any pre-existing assets in your submission?
Yes, most of the models were from CC0/CC BY sources or Synty Asset Packs, and all of the music, sounds, and fonts.

I focused on the programming, level design, and did a little bit of bespoke modeling where needed.

This was the first project where I did not do most of the asset creation myself, and it has been an interesting development experience in trying it out this way. But it allowed me to also enter into the OpenGameArt Spring 2023 Jam as well, that required the use of so many assets from the site.

Pretty neat concept. The sound design is surprisingly immersive, and gathering mushrooms made for some fun exploration. A little surprised to see that you get pelts automatically upon going to bed. You could add some additional ideas here like fishing, but this is still a good start.

Glad you liked it!

The “off camera” trapping came down to running out of time to do the more immersive/detailed trapping I had originally thought of at the start of the jam. I like the idea of adding fishing as a mechanic, every good game needs a fishing mini game, plus it would fit the time period and the more gritty survival direction I originally wanted to take the game in.

Not mush in terms of direction. I know you are meant to place traps and collect mushrooms, but where to place traps or how to get pelts is not explained. Regardless the atmosphere was peaceful and calming. I like the feel of this game.

Thank you for reviewing the game.

I agree, it does need more work in terms of in game explanation of gameplay/controls.
