These are optional themes, jokes, and ideas that you can take to add some extra fun or challenge to your jam! Creativity is born from constraints, so it can actually be quite beneficial to add some more requirements to your games! But remember that they are fully optional.

HOW LONG IS THE JAM?: 1 week.

I DON’T KNOW HOW TO MAKE A GAME HELP?: Neither does the guy who made One Day For Ched but that didn’t stop him. The barrier for entry to make games is lower than ever; if you know even a little bit about programming I’d recommend checking out:

Unity	3D/2D	super popular (read: good tutorials and errors are super google-able); it's also what Dream Daddy was made in.
Godot	3D/2D	an open-source game engine comparable to Unity which lets you use either GodotScript (based on Python) or C#.
GameMaker	2D	easy to pick up; it's also what Undertale was made in.
Superpowers	3D/2D	browser-based collaborative game engine with google-docs style collaboration tools.
LÖVE2D	2D	lua-based game engine that gives you graphics, sound, and a game loop and nothing else.
Ren'Py	2D VN	python-based visual novel creator; it's also what Doki Doki Literature Club was made in.

If you don’t know how to program you should check out:

Twine	Text-Based	interactive fiction and visual novel-making tool, great for writers who don't know how to program.
RPG Maker	2D RPG	fairly easy to learn but it's only good for one particular genre of game.

CAN I WORK WITH A TEAM? Hell yeah! You can work on a team of any size, including a size of one!

CAN YOU HELP ME FIND A TEAM? Hell yeah! Join our discord and ask around. However I recommend dragging inviting your friends to participate with you! 

CAN I MAKE A TABLE-TOP GAME? Hell yeah! I’m not quite sure how that would work in terms of uploading your game but we'll make it work!

WILL THE GRUMPS PLAY THE GAMES? Probably not.

WHAT ENGINES/TOOLS CAN I USE? Whatever you want! It’s about having fun and making stuff. Use whatever you’re most comfortable with.

CAN I USE ASSETS I’VE ALREADY MADE? Hell yeah! You can use anything you have the rights to use. Stealing other people’s art isn’t cool, dude. 

CAN I USE CODE I ALREADY WROTE? Hell yeah....ish! Utility libraries and custom game engines are totally fair game. This is super subjective so use your best judgement.  

WHAT'S THE PRIZE FOR WINNING? The real prize was the games we made along the way.
