Organized by the Vision & Innovation Club, Game Craft is an online game development hackathon inspired by Global Game Jam.
We are the Vision & Innovation Club; an Algerian scientific English-speaking club operating within the National Polytechnic School of Algiers. Its main purpose is to complete the academic training of students and to help them acquire more experience by being confronted with real-life challenges through its various activities and events spread throughout the academic year.
Game Craft is organized by the scientific department of our club "Spark", which aims to keep students updated when it comes to scientific competitions.
Each team, with a maximum of 4 members has to craft a game within 5 days and based on a theme which, for this third edition was selected by a majority vote of all the organizing team members :
Game Craft calls on video game enthusiasts to make a fully functional game that offers them an opportunity to discover and learn new skills, develop their sense of teamwork, and also to unleash their creativity to solve real problems in an informative, fun, modern, and competitive environment.
Once the jam is over, there will be a d-day livestream on our YouTube channel where judges will get to play the games and rate your submissions, that will contribute to selecting the winners.
• Teams: teams consist of up to a maximum of 4 members (including the team leader).
• Duration: the teams will be able to work on the creation of their game ONLY during the 5 days of the hackathon.
• Theme: this is the most important aspect of the competition, it is declared at the beginning of the hackathon, and the participant have to interpret it and incorporate it into their game as they wish, whether it's in the gameplay, storyline... etc.
• Teams will be able to use the pre-made Asset Packs if the permission or license allows it.
• Teams will be able to use the game engine or framework they want.
• Respect the ideals of the Jam: Whatever creative decisions they may make in the creation of the game, the common goal of collaboration, learning, respect and sharing within the international game development community remains very important.
