The theme of Surveillance is a fun way to make a puzzle game

I like that zoom functionality, not the simplest thing in the world to code.  I was also stymied at the first level, I got the couple w/ the flowers and several other spots looked interesting but didn't see what actually advanced the game.  Cool concept!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, we were wondering if the zooming and enhancing would be too challenging for a jam, but we kept the scope small enough to pull through. If you're curious about what happens later in the game, we've added a video walkthrough to the game page. Thanks for playing!

Very unique, I love the aesthetic and humor. I wasn't able to advance past the first CCTV image, however. Maybe adding an option to explicitly show what areas are scannable (although it would reduce difficulty) would be good, as I'd love to see the rest of the game.

I'm curious what screen effect you are using for the curved monitor? It looks great!

Developer

Thank you! And yeah, we totally hear the need for highlighting scannable areas. For the duration of the jam, we've included a walkthrough if you ever want to go back and finish the story :)

The monitor image has a Volume enabled with the following overrides: Motion Blur, Lens Distortion, Bloom, and Chromatic Aberration. It outputs to a render texture with the URP lit shader with a high smoothness, so it picks up a specular reflection from a single, carefully placed point light. The illusion is helped a bit with making the inner edges of the monitor model curved as well.
