Short description of the game
The puzzle game "Echoes of Memories" invites players on an emotional journey as 27-year-old Pepper, who inherits the house of her late grandparents, Aster, situated in the beautiful landscapes of New England. Comprising three stages, 'The Mystery,' 'The Ghosts,' and 'The Missing,' the game offers an intriguing combination of traditional storytelling and artistic exploration. The game prototype was created for Games Now!, and the 2023 Game Jam will be themed around 'Missing.'

Starting with the poignant loss of Aster, players uncover mith.ioysteries akin to torn envelopes revealing secrets about Aster's life. Through engaging puzzles that connect torn pieces of artwork, players experience the realm of emotions within family bonds.

The goal of Echoes of Memories is to immerse players in a world where the past and present are intertwined. Simultaneously, players must gather fragments of memories to weave a story about family bonds, nostalgia, and the outcomes of hidden truths.

퍼즐 게임인 Echoes of Memories 는 뉴잉글랜드의 아름다운 풍경 속에 고인이 된 조부모 Aster의 집을 물려받은 27세의 Pepper가 되어 감동적인 여행으로 플레이어를 초대합니다. 'The Mystery', ' The Ghosts' , 'The Missing' 의 세 가지 스테이지로 구성된 이 게임은 기존의 스토리텔링과 예술적 탐구의 매력적인 조합을 제공합니다. 게임 프로토타입은 Games Now!로 제작되었습니다. 게임잼 2023은 'Missing'이라는 주제로 진행됩니다.

Aster의 가슴 아픈 상실로 시작하여 플레이어는 Aster의 삶에 대한 비밀이 담긴 찢어진 봉투와 같은 미스터리를 발견합니다. 찢어진 그림을 하나로 연결하는 흥미로운 퍼즐을 통해 플레이어는 가족 간의 유대라는 감정의 영역을 경험하게 됩니다.

Echoes of Memories의 목표는 과거와 현재가 얽혀 있는 세계에 플레이어를 몰입시키는 것입니다. 동시에 플레이어는 기억의 조각을 모아 가족 간의 유대, 향수, 숨겨진 진실의 결과에 대한 이야기를 엮어야 합니다.

Theme
Theme Interpretation: "Our game's approach to the jam theme revolves around three aspects: remembering the dead, searching for missing pieces in gameplay, and feeling that something is missing in the unfolding story."

Development Process
In our team, there were people working from South Korea, Brazil, Finland, United States and Ireland. Since our team had many members around the globe, we approached this project with the idea that everyone should focus on doing a small part on the project.

At the end of the week, our international team had many tiny pieces that had to somehow work together into a game. It was hard to combine everyone’s work into a playable prototype. Mainly because of the language barriers, the time zone difference, availability of our team members and some health issues from our programmer-side. All those complications made it hard to put together a playable prototype in Unity. At the end, we got last minute help from a programmer that helped us to have something playable in just 4 hours!
