  • I really liked this game, it had good progression and nice inclusion of lighting, sound and camera effects. One addition that would help players get through the game is to add a "cooldown" after being hit, as a few times enemies ended up taking three hearts before I could get away from them.
  • Congratulations on creating a very fun, playable game, I had a great time playing it and it really did remind me of playing Zelda on the SNES, with some nice 8-bit style graphics and suitable sound and music. I think you have made some very good design decisions, particularly the idea of mapping the mine locations manually as this makes the game feel fair. I enjoyed exploring the map and finding the power ups, and managed to make it to the boss (although I sadly didn't beat him). Technically you appear to have done a good job too. I liked the swaying motion on the green blocks (bushes?) and everything moved smoothly. I found the combat a little awkward, just because it was hard to get in a position to attack the enemies front on as they were moving around. You mentioned the inaccuracy of the attacks in your documentation and having a second attack button, and I think that would be a good idea, perhaps having the existing forward attack bolstered by a secondary attack which swings the axe from left to right in front of the player, giving them a little more attack range but at the risk of triggering a square if you are too close. I'm also impressed that you managed to put this all together in just 7 days, even if that did require an element of crunch time! Well done on your submission and I urge you to continue the good work!
