  • I want to congratulate you for the well thought out and established effect. Even though you were worried about the cartoon style or it being perceived as a low set challenge in terms of technicality, this is a really good submission.

There are two main things I would keep in mind for future projects:

    1. When using a simple color palette, even if it holds reason and is intended to be simple, don’t forget to add a touch of  complexity to it. Specifically in this case a little contrast between white and purple would have enhanced the effect. Instead it may seem a little bland at the moment. I am saying this taking your own examples into consideration (Zelda). Practically, I would have put more accent on the purple.
    2. When presenting an animation try and showcase it in the best way possible. This may seem obvious but it is easy to get absorbed into trying to show everything in a piece to its full potential. In your presentation, the environment is very lit and the bricks in the background catch the eye a little too much. Present your animation as the main point of focus so that you increase the impact on the viewer. Practically, I would have opted for a dark background (Solid color, gradient).

In terms of the pre-production and production presentations, don’t forget they are part of the final submission too. Your job as a designer does not end once the effect is finished, instead it follows you when showcasing the work and procedural elements, when writing about it, adding references. You are doing a good job and it would be a shame for a viewer not to see you style in the whole package presented.

I see that you put your name on the documentation, but it looks like any other font used in a pdf. Design it all, add your signature, logo and a portfolio link on everything you create! People need to know it was made by you and you deserve them to know it too. Keep up the great work and good luck!
