Welcome to the GameUp Africa  Game Jam! 🎮 A 7-day  game design challenge for the 2024 GameUp Africa Cohort!  It's time to put all your game dev skills to the test, collaborate with fellow Bootcamp participants, and create something amazing! Whether you're a pro or still finding your way, this jam is all about having fun, getting creative, and showing off what you've learnt. Team up with artists, designers, and developers from other Bootcamp courses, and together, let's craft some incredible games! The clock is ticking, the stakes are high, and 10,000 Princess Coins are up for grabs—are you ready? Lets go!🚀

• Theme reveal- 25th October (4 pm WAT)
• End date & Submissions Deadline- 1st November (11:59pm WAT)
• Voting - 2nd - 10th November
• Game Jam Results  - 11th November
• Live Gameplay - 12th November (5pm WAT)

The theme will be revealed during the onboarding session on Friday, 25th October.

Judging Criteria

•    Gameplay ( How fun is your game)    
•    Creativity    
•    Presentation ( How polished is your game in terms of graphics and sound)
•    Adherence to the theme

Note: Voting will begin on 2nd October and end at 11:59pm on 10th November

Game Jam Rules

1. Your game must be made within the given time frame. 
2. Please keep your game free of harmful content. Entries containing excessive gore, nudity, and strong language will be disqualified.
3. Any free non-copyright assets can be used. This includes music, sprites and models. You can also create your own assets. In the case of third party asset usage, credit the source.
4. All submissions must be made right here on this page
5. Once that countdown is done, you cannot edit your submissions any further. It is recommended that you upload your project at least 2 hours before the deadline.
6. Submissions can be in form of apk files or links to web builds

Recommendations

1. Make games from any genre of your choice 
2. Pitch your game idea on the discord #teamfinding channel  if you’re looking for people to join your team
3. Plan your deliverables on a day-to-day basis and divide tasks amongst yourselves if you’re working as a team. 
4. You can also work solo if that’s your preference. 
5. Keep your game minimal, you only have 7 days, so try not to overdo it
6. Use the Q & A channel on Discord to ask general questions to the GameUp Africa team. We will try to respond as quickly as possible. 
7. Make new friends and build something you’ll be proud of.
