For this month's jam the theme is
This jam is a part of the game a month jam series
This jam is inspired by the GBJam series of jams, but using the less limiting Game Boy Color instead. I'm choosing this theme this month so I can try out my new Analogue Pocket.
The game can be created via any engine as long as it meets the specs described below.
NOTE: If you use the GB Studio engine, you will automatically meet all these specs and create a game that can actually be played on the GBC.
You should create a game that looks like a Game Boy Color game. This means:
The game must render in (160px x 144px) resolution. You can scale this up but it must retain that aspect ratio and pixel art resolution.
The game can only be controlled using these inputs, or their keyboard equivalents.
Please do not submit a fan game or romhack, or use any sprites from games/projects you do not have the rights to.
The GBC color limitations are a little complex, and specific to that hardware. In general sprites have 4 different colors max, but devs would get around that by splitting sprites into two separate parts and using them together. Being too faithful to these restriction them would be a pain, so I'll make this the rule:
- Sprites should use 4 colors max, you may use 8 colors for certain sprites if you really want to, but that should be reserved for static images or player characters.
