The art is not mine, it's a bunch of picture I've downloaded off Google and I cannot take credit for it, I wish I was that good :D
When the goblin appears, if you don't click on them multiple times very fast, they'll steal all of your cakes and your points with it. You can keep collecting the candles after but you'll have to start from 0 points again. It does take a few clicks to send the goblin away but it's possible to do by spamming the LMB.
