Cool another Pico 8 entry! I like the idea of minding your own bullets but it was quite challenging! Would be cool to see other types of bullets/weapons
Good job on the revised version btw, those were good updates
I like the fact that shooting has consequences. I kind of wish the bullets stayed on screen forever, but maybe moved a little bit slower? That way every shot you fired would make the game that much harder. Maybe the bullets would get destroyed if they hit an enemy? Just a thought!
I also had a few instances where an enemy spawned right on top of me. I noticed in your post jam build you resolved this by giving indication of where an enemy is about to spawn, that's definitely one solution! The way I would have solved it is give the player a radius of "safety" (that's invisible to the player) and never let enemies spawn in that radius.
When I died the game would freeze frame on that moment, which is good-- it gives the player a clear sense of exactly what went wrong. There's an opportunity for some juice there, in that freeze frame the player could have an "ouch!" pose and maybe flicker and maybe a death sound could play.
I heard you say on Twitter that this was your first finished game. Great work! Keep it up!
Thank you for the good feedback <3 I tried playing with the idea of bullets staying on for ever but it made the game very hard. Maybe I'll increase the amount of time it stays on the screen.
I had an idea to have enemies rush at the player and had to signal the player. Think i'll implement your idea as well.
Lots of possibilities for juice all around :) I'll add some of it over the weekend and put up a proper post-jam version.
I had a little bit of trouble getting started because I kept shooting too close to the wall, but there was that marked feeling of improvement each run, which is always key in a skill based game. Nice color palette, too!
Thank you for playing! I'm working on an updated version which has a bigger area so "watch this space" :)
Really fun, you could easily develop this further. The graphics were great and the gameplay was quite enjoyable, but the players death range was too large.
Thank you, I'm glad you had fun :) I'm working on a post-jam version and will make it a bit more lenient.
This game runs, feels, and plays great! I liked the challenge of managing your fireballs.
Lack of audio makes the game feel just a little flat, but even without it it was very enjoyable!
Great job!
Thank you so much for playing. I barely had time to add anything in here. expect a future version to have some audio and better graphics :)
