How does your submission match the theme?
Main focus was giving the player's death extra purpose, both setting you back and helping you progress. You can make additional attempts easier or quicker, and find secrets you can't find while alive. But you can only do so much so choose what is important to you. That's the intent anyway.
Other major dual purpose mechanic is your zombie's lurch. When you start to run you'll do a quick lunge forward but will slow back down after. If you keep holding run you'll be able to make pretty good pace, but you accelerate slowly. So your run can both act as a quick dodge and a normal run.
