This jam is now over. It ran from 2022-09-09 20:00:00 to 2022-09-25 20:00:00. View results
With such amazing news about Godot 4.0 Beta 1 being released today and it being our FOUR YEAR ANNIVERSARY , we've decided to extend this month's jam for an additional week. This is to allow folks the opportunity to utilize the new version in their entry and/or maybe add some scope polish to their existing one.
Therefore, the new jam end date will be September 25.
Welcome to the Godot Wild Jam which starts the second weekend of every month. Whether you're a person who likes to go wild, a casual game developer, a Godot fan, or you just stumbled upon the engine recently and would like to have a go at it, then this is the event for you.

Interested in using the Godot Wild Jam logo in your game as a splash screen? Our branding kit is available here on our website.
Phase 1
Discord members can submit theme ideas to our #theme-vote channel. The channel will be unlocked for 3-4 days.
Phase 2
The organizers discuss the suggested themes from Discord, using the community votes to gauge interest, and then choose the theme.
Wildcards are an optional limitation to add a unique challenge in addition to the theme. Pick one, none, or all; it’s up to you! Ignoring wildcards completely will not incur a deduction in judging.
Please include the wildcard(s) in your splash screen (recommended), main menu, in-game, or credits screen to let us know what cards were used. All wildcard images will be available in a Google Drive via the folder path Wildcards -> GWJ #
When is the jam?
The jam always starts on the second Friday of the month.
Do I have to do everything myself?
Not at all! If you want to use public domain art/sounds or the like, that's entirely fine. And we encourage jammers to team up, too!
Can I use stuff I've already made?
To an extent. The spirit of the jam is that you make something new, not rejig an existing game to fit the criteria.
Can I update the game during the voting period?
No, unless it is a severely game-breaking bug. If this is the case, please contact the organizers on Discord. They will review on a case-by-case basis. Please playtest your game both in engine and as an export on your itch.io game page!
This is to the Godot Documentation for Exporting Your Project. Otherwise, we won't be able to download and play your game!! The docs are your friend. <3
We believe that accessibility in video games is an important component to creating a great game. Here’s a great article on why accessibility matters. We encourage teams to use the Accessibility Guidelines Basic List and check off features as they develop their game. You can view the full accessibility guidelines here.
Jam participants and any contributors will be judging games on the following:
Theme:
How well does the game adhere to the chosen theme?
Fun:
Was it fun? Enjoyable?
Controls:
How smooth is the game? Are the controls clunky or intuitive?
Graphics:
Does the game look good? Does the art style fit the type of game? Is the pixel art charming?
Audio:
How is the music? Does it fit? What about the sound effects?
Accessibility:
How well did the game implement features from this list?
Originality:
Were you pleasantly surprised by some game mechanic or design in the game?
