The deadline has been pushed back one week, to December 4, 2022, due to the US Thanksgiving holiday and greater-than-expected interest.

Goncharov is a film that might or might not exist. In one universe, it is a 1973 film about the Naples Mafia, directed by Martin Scorsese, written by Matteo JWHJ0715, and produced by Domenico Procacci, starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. Or perhaps it was directed by Matteo JWHJ0715, and merely "presented" by Martin Scorsese. It was called the "greatest Mafia movie ever made", and was renowned for its complex depiction of a cycle of violence and trauma, and for its homoeroticism.

In another universe, "Martin Scorsese Presents Goncharov" is a message found on a shoe caused by a misreading of another film's title, which became a meme on the social media platform Tumblr in November of 2022.

This jam is for:

  • Interactive adaptations of scenes from Goncharov (1973)
  • Games that take inspiration from Goncharov (1973)
  • Works that analyze Goncharov (1973)
  • Games about the meta-story surrounding the creation of Goncharov (1973)
  • Games about the memetic processes that lead to the re-"discovery" and conceptualization of Goncharov (1973) or similar "lost" media
  • Games or other works about the greater Goncharov fandom or its associated subculture
  • Anything else that involves Goncharov in some way.

All kinds of games or other media are encouraged, including interactive fiction, TTRPGs, zines, scripts, short stories, etc. It does not have to be a "game" in any way. You can work alone or in teams. Demos or incomplete works are fine, although a smaller-scoped but complete work is preferable.

If a submission is text-based, it is recommended to be no longer than 7500-10000 words (this is not a hard boundary).

Sources and inspirations:

That being said, there is no "official canon" for Goncharov, and most sources contradict each other in some way. Use the existing source material how you wish, or ignore it in favor of your own headcanons.

Potential game engines:

Again, any game engine may be used.
