Hello, I am GO RIA, a tinkering gorilla VTuber, and I'm the organizer of GORILLA JAM!

This VERY informative video aside, GORILLA JAM is a 72-hour game development jam that is open to anyone, no matter their gamedev experience level.

ANY game that doesn't break any of the rules is welcome! This also includes (but is not limited to) fan games for your favorite VTubers! If you're not that experienced yet, just following a tutorial is absolutely fine (as long as you give credit)!

You can go solo or form a team! If you're having trouble finding teammates, go to #team-finder in my Discord server.

TIMELINE (all times in CEST)

There will be a theme that gets revealed once GORILLA JAM starts!
Though it affects your rating, incorporating the theme into your game is completely optional.

Lacking inspiration? Yearning for a new challenge? Need something to spice up the jam?
Look no further! For there will be 3 optional challenges for you to choose from! And you can pick as many as you fancy!
Challenge participation does not affect your rating.

CHALLENGES:

• Mouse controls only
• All audio must be voice recordings
• Monochrome color palette

After the jam ends, GORILLA JAM participants and contributors can rate entries based on the following criteria:

• Fun → How much fun did you have playing the game?
• Graphics → How good does the game look? How effective are the graphics? Do the graphics work well with the other game elements?
• Audio → How good does the game sound? How effective is the sound design? Does the sound design work well with the other game elements?
• Charm → How charming is the game? Is it particularly funny or does it have a nice mood? Does it tickle your primal brain?
• Theme → How well is the theme incorporated? (challenges don't matter for this rating)
• Originality → How original is the game? Did any gameplay mechanic or design choice particularly surprise you?
• Overall → Your personal overall rating for the game!

There is no set 'scale' (a 3/5 might mean something completely different depending on who you ask). Just make sure you're rating every game to the same standards, no matter what you choose your standards to be!

1. Solo and team submissions are both OK!
2. There is no limit to the number of team members, but it's recommended to keep it small for easier communication and planning.
3. You can be part of multiple teams, although not recommended.
4. No NSFW content, excessive gore/violence or offensive content (racism, sexism, or any other form of discrimination).
5. You CANNOT submit any game that you have started on prior to GORILLA JAM.
6. You CAN use any assets that are made prior to GORILLA JAM. These can be your own assets or assets from an asset pack. Make sure you have the rights to use these assets and don't forget to give credit where credit is due.
7. Just following a tutorial is absolutely fine, but make sure to give credit! (Optionally, try adding your own twist to it!)
8. You can use any game engine or framework you like.
9. It is strongly recommended to make your game playable in browser on itch. I will not be playtesting any games that are not in browser during my playtesting stream.
10. Multiple submissions are allowed, but not recommended.

Organizers reserve the right to remove any submissions that go against the rules.

GO RIA will be doing a couple of streams related to GORILLA JAM on Twitch. (All times in CEST)
