- Great set design and modelling, has a nice authentic feel to it. Can see a strong passion for this type of work and this is clearly an area that shows your strengths. Character animation is very minimal in this showreel, so its difficult to comment in this area. The astronaut animation is just a little jerky and not smooth ( appreciate this is not easy to achieve with stop motion ) Character design is especially important with stop motion , as a lot of things need to be considered in its design and the way it is made to allow the animator to achieve good results with its performance and movement. Maybe this is something to consider when creating stop motion puppets.
- Just wanted to say Jonathan, well done for creating a show reel and being extremely resourceful in what you can show in the current circumstances! Keep producing time lapses of your constructions, everybody loves how to see the making process. Your sets look great, and your attention to detail really does shine through. Love the flooring :) Hopefully you can get back into the studio and finish off your film. Look forward to seeing it.
- Some great set building and use of materials. The concept of the film sounded great. A real shame circumstances conspired against the filmmaker which means it's unfinished. Some experimentation with Moco and light writing. Spaceman character interesting, if not a bit basic in the animation available. Hope to see more. Keep going!
- a brilliant varied reel - love the stop motion!
- Lovely set build, great attention to detail. Good use of rigs, motion control camera and really interesting light effects on the zoetrope shot. Nice experimental piece. Congratulations! All the best for your future in animation.
