Historical Accuracy
All art assets were designed based on either actual artifacts or old photographs found in historical documents or articles found online. The location names are an accurate representation of the path they took to King William. Their fall to insanity is referred to with the lead poisoning from tin can pick ups, which was surmised to be one of the main reasons why the expedition failed. A rather mild allusion to cannibalism when you pick up health by walking across dead crewmates. Traces of cannibalism were found in eventual autopsies. While they did not actual find the Hudson's Bay Trading posts that they headed out for in the first place, the encampments serve as a resting point within the game. The Flag on top of the igloo is an exact rendition of the company flag that was being used at the time of the events unfolding. The ending takes a direct excerpt from the letter found at the stone cairn at King William Island. The song during the cutscene is intended to sound like a sea shanty hymn that they "could" have sung, which was the type of music they were used to listening to on board programmed into their hand organ.

Thematic Relevance
The adventure is an interpretation of the failed Franklin Expedition into the unknown Arctic waters in 1948. The characters, items, enemies and areas mentioned in the game are all references to this event. Their arduous journey to King William Island could be considered a rather literal, if unintended exploration of the Arctic as well!
