The world  is full of monsters...

Welcome to Horror and Folklore

Horror and Folklore is the first jam encouraging the submission of horror games with strong roots in folklore. From legends to mythology and cryptids, every folkloric element coming from all across the world is welcomed. Do you know a scary legend about your country? Put it in your game. Is there a famous haunted house in your town? Set the game in there. The important thing is that the game is horror, creepy, or horror-themed, and that has roots in folklore and traditions.

We welcome folklore from all over the world, so please try to use something very close to you. No matter how much everybody (us included) loves Japan (only an example): having games only inspired by one country will decrease the purpose of this jam. But of course, if you are from there or know something unique about it, go for it! Also keep in mind to write about the legend/folklore/tale/creature that inspired you in the description of the game, maybe with a link for easy reference.

All kinds and genres of games are welcomed (if horror-oriented) but try to be creative. We would like to avoid having this jam filled with first-person horror walking simulators, or "run away from the monster to escape a mansion". But hey, this is just a general suggestion, bring us your horror as you prefer.

Even if this is an unranked jam, aimed at creating a place to welcome and store the most diversified games about folklore, the most interesting games selected by "Surreal and Creepy Games" (us) will be featured in a special article and video on our channels:

So bring the horror from your home here!
