Immensely atmospheric, gripping story and such a captivating way of writing. It was a pleasure to read, from start to finish.
leans into the creepiness of the demonic sacrifice/survivor idea rather than the eroticism of it. each sentence a dark jewel.
All I can say it is absolutely gorgeous! Gorgeous writing, gorgeous art, gorgeous sound design, gorgeous themes! I won't criticise it for its length, it does what it has set out to do and that is provide an intimate, sensual and vulnerable experience while also playing with some of my favourite gothic tropes. Though the overarching theme of it all is one of empathy, understanding these creatures and connecting with them, establishing a mutually beneficial relationship with them. It's a kind game, above all, which is something I think really speaks to players.
I would however tell potential players that any erotic and horror elements are left largely thematic, unless you play the TTRPG and write yourself something more... stimulating. But the TTRPG itself is more of a prompt for writing your own interactions, so most of the onus is on the player, if that is a turn off for you.
Excited to see what else the devs might get up to! Especially with anything more long-form and expansive, like a Choice of Game style interactive novel, but of course that's all up to the developers. I'll probably play and enjoy whatever they decide to put out!
Really wonderful game with some deep and thoughtful explorations of negotiation, intimacy, and relationships that change.
Unbelievably moving and touching, this game combines themes of sensuality, self-compassion, and boundary setting in a manner that is so elegant and clean. The prose is stunning and evocative, and demands your full and complete attention - you cannot skim this game or you will be lost. I had a better experience reading the prose aloud to myself. You will very likely not only see yourself in the role of the Supplicant, but at least one of the creatures as well. Carrigan's path was the last I went down, and it brought me to tears. I saw too much of myself in that wretched thing who asks only for the most basic of human comforts, and yet it is given such gravity and importance. This game made me feel not seen or heard but deeply, completely understood. I cannot recommend this highly enough.
