Thanks to the controller update, I have been able to play it properly. Indeed it is a little bit difficult with keyboard+mouse but it gives a good idea of what it can be with a gamepad. I have adjusted my rating in consequence and increased the number of stars. I liked your game, it looks a bit like a Shadow of the Colossus in 2D: the long empty levels are a bit like the vast world of SotC to explore, and the character is very lonely in there, which gives a peculiar atmosphere. The ending boss (well it killed me, I didn't find the attacks with mouse button at that time) looked also like a colosse and that's interesting. I will continue to play this game after the Jam, I'm curious and would like to try to beat the boss. When things are more peaceful here, I'll try to use my ps4 gamepad. The graphics are very good, thumbs up for the environments. The gameplay has a few bugs (the one I found the most frustrating is the collision with a wall: when you walk and try to jump in a direction, the character stays stuck against the wall). Anyway I think it's a good game, the graphics are nice, the audio is good, the attacks allow many different things, etc. Good job!

Well, I could finally play and as I imagined it's a great game. The animations of the character are very good, the music, the atmosphere, the art... very good work!
It's true that playing with the keyboard is not ideal but I'm glad I could play, thank you very much for the effort! 🤗
It's a really shame, but I can't play it... I don't have a console controller. It would be nice if you could launch a version for keyboard and mouse... but I know it's not easy.
Anyway, for the comments and for the images, I think is a really good game. I like the art and of course the story.
So, I will use my intuition and my feelings to vote this entry.
Hey there we have now added keyboard and mouse controls! We already thought that that could be a problem when we first uploaded it and now we finally got around to adding it in. The controls aren't the best when you play it with a keyboard but it gets the job done and you can at least play it. We hope you can enjoy the game now! :D
Here's my thoughts;
Your graphics were amazing! They are definitely the highlight of the game! The animations were clean and the particles also helped add to the wonderful atmosphere! I think it would be nice if there was a bit more variation (different trees and rocks instead of the same ones repeated everywhere), but considering the time frame of the jam, it doesn’t really matter.
In regards to the theme, it was spot on since it felt like I was acting out a legend, and most of the time I was definitely lost!
The sound design was very nice, but it did get a bit repetitive considering how long I was wondering around for. Also, the sound didn't come through my laptop’s speakers, so at first, I thought there wasn't any until I plugged headphones into the controller. But otherwise the sounds were very good, and especially the hammer sounded like it had a lot of weight to it. Now for gameplay. Although I understand you want players to try and figure it out on their own, I think there should definitely be some sort of tutorial. I never did find the use for the hammer, attack or the spear and I found the axe very hard to use at first. I sort of got used to using the axe, but I often got stuck I a ditch that I couldn't get out of and had to restart the game. I think I was supposed to be able to perform double jumps (first troughing onto one wall and then the other while still in the air), but I never managed to, so I'm not sure.
It's a pity, since I really like the idea of the mechanic, just I found it very hard to use, so I mostly went down and as a result didn't get to finish the game. I was using a ps4 controller, and jump didn't work for some reason, which would probably help a lot.
There were also a lot of glitches: getting stuck on the spot, getting stuck in slow motion, falling through the floor and not being able to through the axe just to name a few.
It's not that I don't like the game, I think it has great potential! I just think there is space for a lot of improvement. I hope you keep working on the game, as I would like to carry on exploring the amazing environment!
Thank you so much for the kind words! It sucks to hear that you experienced so many problems with the game and couldn't even finish it. It runs fine on every machine that we tested it on but I guess that's the way it is. Getting stuck is a problem which we are aware of but unfortunately we didn't have the time to fix it.
We are thinking about continuing to work on the game so there will definitely be many bugs fixed along the way.
Hopefully you still had a good time playing the game! :D
Can't play it, I don't have a xbox or ps4 controller right now on my pc. I rated it nevertheless and have put an average score orverall, and a good one on the graphics and affinity with the theme. I will update the rate if I can put a controller before the end of the votes.
Thanks for rating it anyway though! We already thought that that could be a problem but we didn't have the time to include keyboard input, since we focused on making controller input feel good and somehow forgot to include an alternative. We could however update it if that doesn't exclude us from the jam! :D
Extremely cool platformer game! The mechanic of throwing your axe is very fun. I wandered a long time in the mountains, and I was about to quit when I finally stumbled upon the troll, which offered an interesting fight with a range of different moves. Very good experience overall!
It looks like this game is only playable with controllers, so this might exclude a lot of players from trying your game. I was lucky to have a PS4 controller nearby, though.
