Welcome to the first ever Icoso Jam! This is a game jam which I am hoping to bring together the game dev community where you’re tasked to create a game in a week based on a theme and including a bonus item! Oh yeah, hi! I’m Icoso, a small, indie game dev who is hoping to grow my knowledge of game development and all the processes involved! I’d love if you could check out my work with the links at the bottom of the page, thanks so much! :D

If you’re not already familiar, game jams are competitions where game developers create a game from scratch usually within a short time frame! Sometimes they team up too, which is entirely allowed for this jam! At the end of the creating process, others who have made games for the jam will go and play the submissions, leaving feedback, comments, and ratings on the entries they play! Game jams are great ways for increasing friendliness within the game dev community as well as gaining important feedback and support with our projects!

The winner of the jam will receive a special role on the discord server, as well as being presented on the Icoso YouTube Channel! I’ll be playing and making videos on as many entries as I can! :D

This game jam has 5 different ranking categories, all weighted equally against each other. If you’re looking for a higher score, make sure to follow these criteria!

🎮 Gameplay – How fun the game is to play

🎨 Aesthetics – How good the game looks

🎵 Music & SFX – How good the game sounds

📝 Theme – How well the game follows the theme

✨ Bonus Item – How well the game uses the bonus item

The theme for this jam will be announced when it begins. Your game doesn’t have to be based on the theme, but if you want to attain a higher score, I would heavily suggest you give it a crack!

THEME - RETRO!

This idea of 'retro' is completely up to you how you interpret it! Feel free to bounce ideas off of others or ask me a question about it! :D

The bonus item is a unique mechanic to this jam, and it works similarly to the theme – it will be announced at the beginning of the jam and the same guidelines apply. This is more of a physical thing, rather than an abstract theme.

Just like any jam, there are a few rules that you must follow. If not followed correctly, it may lead to a removal of your entry, sorry!

• You can work in a team of up to 4 people! Find teammates on the discord
• Any game creation programs, tools, and software are allowed!
• No NSFW content. Just use your common sense please lol
• Give credit for the use of assets that you haven’t created yourself. You must also have the correct rights to use these
• No uploading projects that weren’t created for the jam
• Keep the community posts supportive and generally friendly
• No discrimination or derogatory content in any form
